Septimius Severus, 193-211. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 2.57 g, 5 h), a contemporary imitation of a denarius of Septimius Severus from Emesa, uncertain mint, after 194. IMP CAE L SEP SEV R PEMIII Laureate head of Septimius Severus to right. Rev. PONAEISPLTI Spes advancing left, holding flower in her right hand and raising skirt with her left. Cf. BMC 340, Cohen 58 and RIC 364 (for prototype). An attractive contemporary imitation of lovely style. Very fine.
